feature chevron salt lake refinery provides COVID-19 community relief

December 15, 2020 -- 2020 was a difficult year for many individuals and organizations in our community. Chevron knows the importance of partnership in times of challenge and is proud to have provided resources to help our community address the COVID-19 crisis.

The Chevron Salt Lake Refinery’s contributions to the community included 330 gallons of hand sanitizer and 4,800 KN95 masks to Davis School District. The hand sanitizer was donated in June, to support the district’s reopening plans for the new school year. The donation of masks in December will provide every teacher in the district with a KN95 mask heading into 2021.

“We love our community partners and Chevron is one of the best,” said Jodi Lunt, Executive Director of the Davis Education Foundation. “Their generous donations help keep our teachers and students safe and healthy, so they can focus on learning.”

As a ‘thank you’ for their tireless service, Chevron Salt Lake Refinery donated $50,000 in gas cards to local first responders and food banks. The Utah Food Bank, Bountiful Community Food Pantry, and South Davis Metro Fire Department used the cards to help meet workforce fuel needs.

“Utah Food Bank is so grateful to Chevron for their corporate partnership during this critical and uncertain time,” said Ginette Bott, Utah Food Bank President & CEO. “We have many staff members on the front line of hunger who are still going to work every day to help the Food Bank support the hundreds of thousands of Utahns affected by this crisis. This contribution will help ease their fuel needs and know that they’re valued for the work they continue to do.”

“Bountiful Community Food Pantry is most appreciative of Chevron’s donation,” said Lorna Koci, Director of the Panty. “Resources like this means the Pantry can redirect funds to other necessities. I know many people will be greatly relieved with the assistance that Chevron is making possible.”

In addition to gas cards, Chevron also donated 2,000 surgical masks to South Davis Metro Fire.

“South Davis Metro continues to make a concerted effort to be mission ready,” said South Davis Metro Fire Chief Dane Stone. “Chevron continues to be a great partner in helping us meet that mission. Chevron’s recent donations go a long way in making sure our Firefighters and Dispatchers feel supported and appreciated.”
